Cougs - Another exciting match ahead this weekend. A handful of us are out of town for the game and we're all hoping for another good showing. We may need some cougringers for this one.

Favorite quote for the week:
"I will never think that we won’t win anything but when, sometimes, you feel so good in a game and you play so well and enjoy it so much, even if you haven’t won anything you still feel so good, so free." -- Cesc Fabregas

Cougars Victorious
Another hot Sunday afternoon saw the Cougars emerge victorious!
In a nail-biter, we staked a 1-0 lead in the first half, only to see them battle back to tie in the 2nd. After some nervy moments, Emma sealed the win with her killer instinct in the 2nd. No way they were coming back. Big ups to our defensive players - Ventura, Jacks, and Mike Jr. in goal.
Let's keep the streak alive next game.

Let me know if you're in. Once I have a count, I'll find out the cost. Per shirt ~25-$35 but league fees subsidize the purchase and lower the cost.

Game 4 - Sunday 9/21 - 4:20pm
Sunday's game is vs. Sirk FC.
We've gone up against them a couple of times. Some speed up front and in the middle, weak in the back, and a tall goalie who doesn't cover well on the ground.
Good team to beat.

Hot day, soggy cougars.
Tough one on the pitch today, but another positive effort. For those not able to make it, we suffered a 1-0 defeat. Fortunately the other team did not show up in bikinis. That would made it a little tougher to swallow.
Next weekend we take 'em down.
Thanks Sandwich for getting our replacement keeper.

Game 3 - Sunday 9/14 - 3:30pm
We're playing Aguilas. I don't think we've gone up against them before, but we can only expect that the competition will be stiff.
Chances are, this won't be the other team's uniform, nor will we allow them to ply us with drink...
Great game last week! The result was a harsh one but there was some terrific team play and energy all around. It's great to have our Nougs on board, and as always we are lucky to have Alex in goal - best in the league in my opinion.
Time to get our heads set for the next one. Please show up at 3pm (this applies to me especially) to get ourselves organized and ready. With a roster as big as ours, we should have energy to spare. Let's go at them hard.

Game 2 - Sunday 9/7 at 4:20pm Kickoff at Stanton Street
Avast ye mateys! We're playing the LES Pirates on Sunday. Let's show em who the real pirates be! Storm their hipster vessel! Steal the chains off their fixed gear battleship! And send them off in their scurvy ridden, PBR drinkin' pulchritude while we yo ho ho with bottles of rum and count our dubloons.
Wow... that was a lot more pirate reference than I can usually muster on a moment's notice... First post-game beer on me for the best piratical postulations in the comments...

Labor Day Coug?
Since there's no match this weekend, is anyone interested in a Coug session on Sunday afternoon... followed by pong and burgers at the Jacks Terrasse?
Say 1pm? Any ideas for fields?

Cougars in the news.
One of our "nougs", Ventura Rodriguez was on NPR this morning. Funny, no mention of the Cougars in the clip...
Good on ya Ventura! I hope all the feedback was positive.
NEW YORK, NY August 27, 2008 — New York City has 18 new charter schools, each with a distinct personality. But only one has a story that spans almost 3,000 miles, from Sacramento, Calif., to 134th Street in Harlem. This charter school's story includes sports, politics, the historic Boys Choir of Harlem, even a federal investigation and a controversial figure behind it - former NBA star Kevin Johnson. The school opened last week, and Ben Adler of NPR station KXJZ in Sacramento came out to file this report.
